Jr. NBA Philippines to present 2013 All-Star Team

Ten (10) young basketball players are about to make their NBA dreams come true as the much anticipated and most prestigious basketball program 2013 Jr. NBA Philippines presented by Alaska and supported by Rexona and Master comes to an end.

The Jr. NBA is the NBA’s international youth development program that promotes basketball participation, sportsmanship and teamwork, and an active lifestyle among children.

From thousands of young hopefuls who joined the nationwide 2013 Jr. NBA School Clinics, the top 40 participants were selected during the Regional Selection Camps in NCR, Lucena, Dagupan and Davao. They had to go through a more intense development program at the National Training Camp where they were also joined by the top 10 players from the Alaska Power Camps.

Helping the coaches train the top 50 participants at the National Training Camp was NBA Legend Tyrone “Muggsy” Bogues who flew in to Manila. Bogues is the shortest player ever to play in the NBA yet one of the best passer, ball-stealer, and fastest on the court.

Now, the 50 young cagers must give their best and show what they have learned from the series of clinics to be part of the coveted 10-member 2013 Jr. NBA Philippines All-Star Team. Their fate will be decided on April 28, 2013 at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall where they will compete in the All-Star Game.

Adding excitement to the 2013 Jr. NBA Philippines culmination event is a special Jr. NBA Alumni All-Star Game. Participating at the exhibition game are All Star alumni from 2007 to 2012 Aljon Mariano, Hubert Cani, Carlo Escalambre, John Roald Mayor, Arnie Padilla, Arc Gabrielle Araw-Araw, Patrick Ramirez, Patrick Nigel Go, Miguel Competente, Ichie Altamirano, Emilio Puno, Kobe Lorenzo Paras, Henry Asilum, Paul Harly Dagunan, RJ Ilagan, Aldrin Fedigero, Jarrell Lim, Thristan Laman, Rendell Senining, Dawn Ochea, Tzaddy Rangel, and Aljun Melecio.

As major sponsors of the prestigious annual event, Rexona and Master Facial Wash promoted proper grooming and hygiene among all participants. The two brands successfully provided the players with a program that not only focuses on skills and discipline, but also on having the confidence and winning look before and after each game, which will help them in their journey to becoming great athletes.

During the 2013 Jr. NBA culmination event, Rexona and Master will host a Face-Off Challenge that will test how well the participants have developed their basketball skills and teamwork. The 2013 Jr. NBA participants will go head to head with the Jr. NBA Alumni on a series of tests.
Grateful to be part of this year’s run, Rexona brand manager Anne Remulla said “We are very proud to be part of the 2013 Jr. NBA Philippines which helps build the future of young Filipino athletes. The program not only expands the child’s knowledge and ability about the sport, but also teaches him important values such as sportsmanship and teamwork that will be very beneficial to his overall growth and development.”

“Getting into sports is an effective avenue for the youth to gain good character and confidence. Master is here to give young men the winning look both on and off the court. Master allows young men to always put on their game face during and after playing a tough basketball game” adds Master brand manager Jonathan Pua.
The 2013 Jr. NBA Philippines was indeed a bigger and better program with the support of the two leading brands that provided more exciting experiences and prizes. Giving the participants the confidence and winning game face throughout the program were Rexona, a range of antiperspirants and deodorants developed with unique body-responsive technology that gives unbeatable protection against sweat and odor, and Master, a comprehensive range of face care products for men that helps them control oil for up to 8 hours.
